OK first lets just say what the hell are ‘binaural beats’ ??? As ever our old friend Wikipedia can help!

Binaural beats or binaural tones are auditory processing artifacts, or apparent sounds, the perception of which arises in the brain independent of physical stimuli. This effect was discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove.

The brain produces a phenomenon resulting in low-frequency pulsations in the loudness of a perceived sound when two tones at slightly different frequencies are presented separately, one to each of a subject’s ears, using stereo headphones. A beating tone will be perceived, as if the two tones mixed naturally, out of the brain. The frequency of the tones must be below about 1,000 to 1,500 hertz for the beating to be heard. The difference between the two frequencies must be small (below about 30 Hz) for the effect to occur; otherwise, the two tones will be heard separately and no beat will be perceived.

So we are not talking about some new fangled flash in the pan ideology here!

Frequency Following in Brainwave Entrainment
The use of binaural beats in auditory tapes is innovative yet the use of binaural beats themselves is nothing new. In fact, binaural beats have been used very early in human history by primitive tribes. Research conducted by Melinda Maxfield PhD has shown that drumbeats found in rituals of many cultures that beat at a steady rate of 4.5 beats-per-second induce a trance-like state in listeners. In hearing these drum beats the brain undergoes a frequency following effect whereby brainwaves shift to a 4.5 beat-per-second pattern thus inducing a low Theta brainwave state. Repetitive beats and chanting have been used by Native American shamans, Hindu healers, Tibetan monks, Sufi dervishes and practiced Yogis to achieve brainwave states for healing and higher levels of consciousness.

We are offering over 50 hours of MP3, or better yet take the CD option, of relaxing brain entertainment. For example:

The Schumann Resonance CD is 60 minutes. The cd consists of ambient music, chimes, wind, rain, a passing thunderstorm, and night time sounds. Embedded behind all the sounds is the steady beating of the isochronic tones which are the heart of the Schumann Resonance CD. This cd can be listened to at night as you are going to bed and/or during the day if you want to relax.

If you just want to have a listen you can download 45 minutes worth of binaural beats for free!
